Puerto Rican Festival Coverage, Day #1

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 3pm. Sorry I've been gone for so long, but I've gotten so busy with school and some other obligations. I'm starting to really get all of these things out of the way, so I'll be able to start doing more coverage in the next few weeks as we come into the first days of summer. Today, I'm monitoring the Puerto Rican Festival. This is day #1 of the festivities. It runs through Sunday and it is centered in the Humboldt Park area. I'm monitoring the festival through midnight. I know a lot of you have been skeptical about me monitoring the festival in part years and may not approve of it, so that's why this year, I will be going down there on one of the days it is taking place for an hour or two. I will be going tomorrow and will be down there around 5:30pm until 7pm or so, and although I cannot promise I will be touring the entire area of the festival, I will try my very best to do so. I will be focusing my time down there on North and the streets immediately surrounding Humboldt Park. If there is not much violence that I observe, I'll be staying a bit longer, but if it gets really violent, I will be leaving immediately. For the festival, at least today, I will have special boundaries in effect. I'll be monitoring Beats 1211 and 1212 (Division to Chicago, Kedzie to Wood). Also, tomorrow, from noon to 5pm, I'll be covering all of the schools in the area for their last day of schools. I have to make up a schedule for what I'll be monitoring when, but there will be definitely be coverage. Coverage of the Puerto Rican Festival tomorrow will largely depend on the calls that come through tonight. Here's crime for this afternoon and evening.

Memorial Day 2014

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 12pm. Happy Memorial Day to all! Let's honor all of our veterans today who protect our country, whether if they are dead or alive. Those who have died fought for our freedom that we have here in the United States and those who are active are still fighting for our freedom. On this holiday, I'm going to start my monitoring out with Zone 1 until 12:20pm, then go to Zone 11 from 12:20 to 12:40, and then Zone 2 from 12:40 to 1:00. After that, I'll be going to Zones 4, 3, 13, 10, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12. Round #1 of monitoring should wrap up at about 4pm, as I will be on 20-minute intervals for each Zone, and then I plan on coming back at 9:30pm to midnight, on 10-minute intervals, starting with Zone 12 and ending with Zone 1. As you all know, Memorial Day is also the unofficial start of summer here in Chicago, so I anticipate crime to begin picking up in the next few days to the next few weeks for the summer. EVANSTON Crime Blotter

Good evening, everyone, it's 8:52pm. I know I made a post a little while ago, but I've decided to do something a bit special. I know Evanston is a northern suburb, but as of tonight, I've decided to start a project where I will periodically monitor some of the immediate suburbs surrounding Chicago (Evanston, Skokie, Lincolnwood, Norridge, Harwood Heights, Elmwood Park, Oak Park and Cicero). This project will not occur often, but it will be at least every month or twice a month, depending on how busy I get this summer. I'm doing this so we can get a feel of what's going on just outside of Chicago. Tonight, I'm beginning with Evanston, which is just north of Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood on the Far North Side. Evanston is an interesting area, to say the least, because it's considered a city and it has some very interesting areas. The downtown area and the east side of Evanston can be considered to be safe, while there are rough areas in southwestern and western Evanston. Honestly, I'm not really sure how the southeast and the north side of town are. If anyone would like more information as into why I'm doing this, please do not hesitate to send me an email. Now that I'm out of school for a few weeks, I'll be able to update a lot more, and I will be less busier this summer. With that, here's crime in Evanston for this evening into the overnight hours.

8:53pm - Disturbance. Lake and Dewey. Male and female arguing on the street.

8:55pm - Shots Fired. 18XX Foster. One shot fired by a male Black, 5 foot with a white hoodie. He ran towards a house on the corner, near Darrow.

8:57pm - Unit 381 says that they're talking to a couple of people at Dodge and Foster, who said there were a couple of shots fired off over there. Units 375 and 377 are headed over.

8:58pm - Unit 603 is saying that the offender from this is 18 and is slim build, according to a citizen. He also has dreads.

Halloween 2013 Coverage

Good morning, everyone, it's 5:10pm. Happy Halloween to those of you who celebrate and endorse it. I personally don't, but I do this coverage to keep an eye on things throughout the city. I hope everyone has a safe night as you go out and celebrate. This year, I began my coverage at 5pm with Zone 4 until 5:05, then I switched over to Zone 2 until now. I didn't hear anything on the two Zones. I will be monitoring the rest of the Zones until 6, then I'm taking a break until 7. At 7, I'll return with Zone 2 until 7:10, and then each Zone will be monitored on a ten minute period through 8:50. From 8:50 to 9:30, I'll be doing coverage on Zone 12, then from 9:30 to 10:10, coverage on Zone 3. From 10:10 to 11:30, I'll be covering Zone 1. This long coverage of Zone 1 is being provided because there's a major dance event going on this evening at Wilbur Wright College from 6 to 11, so I want to keep an eye on that.
