Happy Good Friday, 2013

Good morning, everyone, it's 9am. Happy Good Friday to all, especially to my fellow Christian brothers and sisters. For those of you who are of the Catholic and Christian faiths, as you know, this is an important day in the faith. For all of the others, as well as those of you who aren't religious, it's just another Friday. In observation of the holiday, though, I will be doing limited monitoring today. I will be monitoring Zones 1 through 4, 6, 10 through 13. I can't pick up Zones 5, 7, 8 and 9 on my radio. My first wave of monitoring will be this morning until about 11am then I will pick up again shortly after 5pm until around 7pm. Here's crime for portions of today.

9:32am - Beat 1845 just got flagged down at Dickens and Larabee regarding a suspicious male Black wearing all black with a ski cap who was loitering on some steps nearby. He fled east on Dickens from Larabee. Beat car 1813 and Beat 1841 are assigned to check it out. Beat car 1814 is going to head over to assist them.

9:35am - Fire. 455 W North Ave. Roof.

9:36am - Person w/ a gun. Jackson Blue Line station. Male Black, skinny, glasses, with a brown leather jacket and skull cap is standing on the platform with a pistol or handgun.

9:40am - Theft in progress. 310 S Racine. Male Black wearing all black is stealing copper from the site.

9:41am - A slow down is being given on the 9:36am job per Beat car 113.

9:42am - Sounds like they're chasing someone from the 9:36am job. In the tube of the Blue Line.

9:43am - They lost the offender. He ran as soon as he saw 113.

9:44am - They've got one in custody on the mezzanine level. Not sure if he has a gun yet.

9:45am - 1) Panic alarm. 27XX W Cortez. 2) Beat 1842 is doing an "L" check at the Armitage Brown/Purple Line station.

9:46am - Beat 1282Paul is doing foot patrol on Harrison from Wood to Damen. Event number is 04584.

9:47am - 113 has the offender and they're putting him the wagon. 113 gives thanks to everyone who showed up.

9:56am - Shots Fired. 53XX S Wood. Two shots heard, group of men were seen arguing.

9:58am - Check the well being. 53XX S Lowe. Possible domestic. Female on the line was heard saying "I have a cut on my face, get the f***k out!".

9:59am - A slow down is being given on the 9:58am job.

10:23am - Beat 807Boy has some kind of detail going east on 77th to Lawndale, then north on Lawndale to 69th, then west on 69th to Hamlin. I don't think Lawndale goes all the way through over there, though. It's some kind of parade, probably related to Good Friday.

10:25am - Disturbance w/ a mental. 61XX S Rockwell. 55 year old brother is off the meds.

10:28am - Beat car 725 is doing special attention at Wood and 63rd per Beat 720. There's been a couple of "shots fired" incidents there this morning.

10:44am - Person Shot. Erie and Lavergne. Two shots were heard then a female fell to the ground.

10:46am - Beat 1542 is giving a slow down at the 10:44am job. No one's out there so far.

10:52am - CTA bus alarm. Halsted and 67th. Bus headed south on Halsted towards 68th with its alarm sounding.

8:57pm - Person w/ a gun. Wabansia and Lockwood. Male Black with a black coat has a gun and fired a shot into the air, there's a large crowd gathering on the corner.

9:44pm - Battery in progress. LeClaire and Huron. Very large group of up to 100 people are fighting and one man with a red Northface jacket, dreadlocks and baggy pants just flashed a gun on the POD camera.

9:46pm - Beat car 1531 is at the 9:44pm job and says it's just the kids from a little while ago from Chicago/Laramie. They're walking the area. That area's been a problem area all day and will probably be all night too. Great...

I'm not sure if we had a parade in Chicago for the parade, or any activities, so far this weekend, so that's why I haven't blogged anything about the holiday. But anyway, I'm going to monitor Zones 10, 3, 12, 11 and 4 today, so we'll see how that goes. Here's crime.

4:38pm - Disturbance. On 2531's Beat.

7:28pm - Beat 2420 needs EMS at 1060 W. Thorndale, a guy just fell.

7:31pm - Burglar alarm. 53 E Lake.

10:49pm - Beat 1563Adam just had a black Toyota 4-Runner with a plate of 2415009 take off from them at Jackson and Cicero. Headed north on Cicero towards Quincy. Car's going at a high rate of speed. Might turn into a traffic pursuit.

10:50pm - 1563A lost the car, for now. Until I hear something else regarding this, back to our neighborhood.

10:53pm - Okay, the car's been spotted. Officially a traffic pursuit. Headed west on Madison from Waller. Beat car 1522R is in pursuit. Beats 1510R and 1530R are notified.

10:54pm - Chase has been terminated, at 22:54 hours on the clock. Chase was terminated per a supervisor. Car was last seen getting on the Eisenhower Expressway from Austin, headed west in the eastbound lane.

11:06pm - Person w/ a gun. 24XX N Oak Park. Caller had a gun pointed at them.
