Halloween Coverage

Good afternoon, everyone, it's 4:30pm. It's Halloween, and we all know what that means. Trick or treaters, people dressed in costumes, and of course, shenanigans. Which is why I'm doing special coverage this afternoon and evening. I'm covering just about all of the Zones for this afternoon and evening, and I will be paying very close attention for any calls that are Halloween-related, and those will be the calls I primarliy write down. I'm starting with the least active Zones (i.e. Zones 4, 2, 11), then will work my way through the next couple of hours on the more busier Zones until I get to Zone 12, my home Zone. After 7pm, except for limited calls on this blog, as I will be doing more coverage on my other blog. So, with that said, here's crime for this afternoon and evening.

4:31pm - Attempted robbery. 4XX N Kingsbury. Two males dressed in clown outfits pulled a knife on the caller and tried to rob them.

4:34pm - A slow down is being given per Beat car 1831. A lot of people outside, but no victim.

4:40pm - Beat 1805 is doing a park check on the 1900 block of N Seminary.

4:48pm - Battery in progress. Irving Park and Clark. People fighting.

4:52pm - 1) Assault in progress. 2400 N Lincoln. 30 teens in the McDonalds arguing and about to fight. 2) Disturbance. Fremont and Waveland. Six males on the corner harassing people. One's holding a beer in his hand.

5:05pm - Gang disturbance. On 2012's Beat.

5:15pm - Battery in progress. 34th and Hoyne. There's a fight in the park.

5:21pm - Disturbance. 13XX W 13th St. Kids throwing eggs at people.

5:30pm - Disturbance. Indiana and Pershing. Kids throwing eggs.

5:37pm - Assault in progress. Garfield and State. Five males shooting paintballs at people.

5:44pm - Disturbance. Indiana and 58th. Kids on the corner, harassing people.

5:46pm - Beat 720 reports that there's two group of kids at 71st and Wolcott who are determinded to fight. 720 and 744 are attempting to break them up, but it's not really working. More cars needed.

5:47pm - It's getting crazy over by 720. They're throwing bottles and stuff.

5:48pm - Disturbance. Kedzie and 82nd. Egg throwers.

5:50pm - 1) Disturbance. 51st and Kedzie. Four females in a vehicle throwing things at the gas station, trying to break out the windows. 2) Person w/ a gun. Shields and 57th. Male Black with a black sweater and a bag over his shoulder has a gun on him. He's walking through Sherwood Park.

5:52pm - Beat 5810 has a handwaver at 5500 S Halsted about a man with a gun. Needs an assist. Beats 743 and 789 are heading over.

5:53pm - Information is now coming over from 5810. Two male Blacks with dark tops and khaki pants have guns. This is apparently now happening over in the 900 block of W 56th St.

5:55pm - Person w/ a gun. 63rd and Sacramento. Teens on the corner and one has a BB gun.

5:59pm - Assault in progress. Sacramento and 71st. Three males shooting paintballs at a CTA bus.

6:01pm - Beat 1162 asks for an event number for a gang mission in the District. It's 14071.

6:03pm - Disturbance. 3401 W Roosevelt. Egg throwers by the Walgreens.

6:05pm - Gang disturbance. 3800 W Maypole. They're shooting off paintballs.

6:14pm - Criminal damage. 30XX W Lexington. Kids shooting off paintballs.

6:16pm - Park Ridge Police is reporting that there's a big group fighting at Olympia Park. Beat 1662Boy is being dispatched.

6:18pm - Some call at Montrose and Troy. I think it was for egg throwing.

6:19pm - Beat car 1612 is giving a slow down at Olympia Park. Nothing going on at this time.

6:24pm - Beat 1662 is having 1662B and 1662Eddie detailed to the area of Brooks Park for the night. Things are likely to jump off in that area tonight.

6:33pm - Battery in progress. California and Madison. Five people fighting at Wallace's.

6:39pm - Disturbance. Iowa and Campbell. Egg throwers.

6:46pm - Beat 1305 asks for a park check at Union. Event number is 151115.

6:49pm - Suspicious person. 30XX W Washington. Unknown male entered the apartment building and is banging on the door.

6:50pm - The unknown male on Washington just went to his car and got something "shiny" out.

6:53pm - Beat car 1424 asks for an event number for a premise check at the Damen Blue Line station. It's 15266.

7:01pm - Robbery. 5842 W North Ave. Three males in masks just robbed the store.

7:04pm - Wanted for robbery from 5842 W North are three males in black hoodies, jeans and Jason masks on. They took $300 from the store and a vault that had a whole bunch of stuff in it.

7:06pm - Gang disturbance. Monitor and Fullerton. 15 of them wearing black causing problems on the street.

7:09pm - Whole bunch of calls for a disturbance and a couple for a battery at Monroe and Lavergne.

7:10pm - Gang disturbance. Lockwood and Fullerton. Group of them out there causing a ruckus.

7:11pm - Information for the CPD. 43XX W Division. Shots were fired about 45 minutes by a man in a green van with stripes on it.

7:14pm - Battery in progress. North and Oak Park. Five males beating on one.

7:17pm - Battery in progress. Laramie and North Ave. Group of people fighting inside a car.

7:19pm - Shots Fired. Belden and Mango. About three heard.

7:21pm - A slow down is being given on the 7:19pm job.

7:22pm - Disturbance. 15XX N Linder. Egg throwers.

7:38pm - Shots Fired. Central and Madison. By the bus stop. Group of males running.

7:40pm - Criminal damage. North and Linder. Group of boys tagging the Family Dollar.

7:43pm - The 7:40pm job is now coming in as a "person w/ a gun". There's 15 to 20 boys out there and a shot was fired. Sounds like a BB gun.

7:44pm - 1) The 7:40pm/7:43pm job is coded a 19Boy. A 6700 unit is sitting right in front of there and sees nothing. 2) Gang disturbance. 38XX W Grand.

7:46pm - Assault in progress. Lotus and Adams. Group of five males on the corner shooting off pellet guns. One person's been shot so far.

7:48pm - 1) The 7:46pm job is coded. No one's out there. 2) Information for the CPD. 6100 W Grand. Gray Chevy Malbu or Charger is headed eastbound, shooting people with paintballs.

7:51pm - Disturbance. Wrightwood and Long. 15 people on the corner, throwing bottles.

7:55pm - Battery in progress. Cicero and Huron. Group of teens turned off CTA bus #1045 and they're now fighting.

7:58pm - A disregard is being given on the 7:55pm job. They're gone.

7:59pm - Shots Fired. North and Kedvale. Five to six shots fired.

8:14pm - Criminal damage. 5723 W Fullerton. In front of the clinic, there's a group of males throwing things at passing vehicles.

8:18pm - Gang disturbance. 38XX W Grand.

8:23pm - Gang disturbance. Belmont and Keating. Group flashing and throwing up signs.

8:25pm - Person w/ a gun. 57XX W Wrightwood.

8:38pm - Disturbance. 51XX W Crystal. Group of 12 males standing in the middle of the street, blocking it.

8:57pm - Disturbance. Springfield and North. Egg throwers.

9:01pm - Shots Fired. Central Park and LeMoyne. Three or four shots heard.

9:58pm - Battery. Cicero and Huron. Caller was dragged off their bike and pelted with eggs by a group of kids.

10:01pm - Theft. North and Long. Lady just ran out of the cab, refusing to pay her fare.

10:15pm - Person w/ a gun. 54XX W Monroe.

10:24pm - Disturbance. Diversey and Lockwood. Males in a car shooting paintballs.

10:30pm - Beat 1510Robert has a handwaver at Madison and Central regarding paintball shooting. The person was shot at.

10:32pm - Person w/ a gun. 55XX W Schubert. Four to eight males in front, threatening to shoot.

10:37pm - Sounds like a paintball incident occurred on the 5400 block of W Harrison, possibly at Lotus.

10:38pm - Foot chase. Foot chase. Officer is chasing someone with a "Tech 9" gun. Male Black, black hoodie and pants. This is at Division and Central. Beat 5536 is chasing.

10:39pm - Running north by Division and Central.

10:40pm - A slow down is being given on the chase. The guy ran into 1219 on Central, possibly.

10:41 through 10:44pm - Some police/Dispatch chatter about the foot chase incident.

10:45pm - Disturbance. 26XX N Mango. Teens throwing eggs.

10:46pm - Battery. 12XX N Pulaski. Someone was shot with a paintball gun.

10:51pm - The offender from the foot chase is supposed to be at an address on the 1300 block of N Central Ave.

10:53pm - A primeter is being set up for this address.

10:55pm - Disturbance. 3914 W Division. At the tire shop. Kids shooting off paintballs.

11:01pm - The whole foot chase thing is a 19P. They're gone.

11:08pm - Beat car 2535Robert is on a traffic stop at 1215 N Pulaski.

11:10pm - Shots Fired. Pulaski and Division. Over 10 shots fired.

11:13pm - The 11:10pm job is coded. 2535R is right there and nothing was heard.

11:14pm - Person down. 9XX N Mayfield.

11:17pm - Person w/ a gun. Washington and Central. Man shooting at cars and persons with a BB gun. He's on the northwest corner.

11:18pm - Robbery. 5618 W North Ave. At the White Castle. Two males wearing black hoodies just robbed a costumer.

11:20pm - The 11:18pm job is just an attempted robbery, not an actual.

11:21pm - Disturbance. 52XX W Barry. Trick-or-treaters running up to the cars.

11:22pm - Barking dog. 21XX N Kilbourn.

11:24pm - Beat 2542 is taking the 11:18pm person back home. They were afraid they were going to get robbed, and were not actually robbed.

11:28pm - Check the well being. 3XX N Pine. Drunk man in the alley with a boy.

11:30pm - Check the well being. 49XX W Fulton. Female requesting CPD for an unknown reason.

11:32pm - Beat car 2513R is on a street stop at Lotus and Barry.

11:38pm - Beat car 1511R is on a street stop at Potomac and Menard.

11:39pm - Auto theft. Central and Flournoy. Someone just took the caller's car.

11:41pm - Person w/ a gun. Chicago and Lockwood. Male Black, striped sweater, light colored jeans and bright boots is standing on the northwest corner with what looks like a gun. He's selling drugs.

11:44pm - Beat 1506AdamR has two on the hood at the 11:41pm job. 1524R is on the way to help.

11:46pm - Loud music disturbance. 50XX W Van Buren. People being disruptive also.

11:47pm - The 11:38pm job is coded. 1511R thanks 2533R for helping them.

11:50pm - 1511R needs some more cars at 9XX N Menard. There's an on-view house fire. A unit needs to block southbound traffic on Menard at Augusta. 1556 will do that. 1520R is notified of this.

11:52pm - 1552 is blocking traffic on Menard at Iowa.

11:55pm - Disturbance. 5958 W North Ave. Group of homeless people going in and out of the building.

11:57pm - Fire. 31XX N Mango. Garbage can by the garage.

7:15pm - Beat 1530 has a street stop at Madison and Pine.

7:20pm - Robbery. Cicero and North Ave. Group of males just robbed the caller.

7:26pm - Battery. 25XX N Mango. Landlord hit the caller and tried to put her out. She's pregnant.

8:29am - More cars are needed. It's a real mess over there.

8:32am - A slow down is being given. Things are still not calm, but it's getting a little better. There's major traffic issues, though.

8:33am through 9:10am - Lots of talk between officers about backing traffic up Montrose, Cicero, Wilson, etc. from this whole thing. Traffic is backed up on Montrose as far east as the Kennedy.

9:16am - Disturbance. 5501 N Kedzie. At Northside College Prep High School. Student causing a problem inside the school.

9:27am - Battery in progress. 4755 N Kimball. At the Brown Line Terminal. Two males fighting on the platform.

9:35am - Battery. 3601 N California. At Gordan Tech High School. Caller's kid was just attacked by another kid at the school.

9:37am - Curtosey parking is to be extended in the area around Taft High School (Byrn Mawr and Nagle).

7:48pm - Fire. 4970 N Elston. Smoke coming from the roof.

8:57pm - Criminal damage. 7262 W Summerdale. 25 kids in the park, damaging it.

9:04pm - Check the well being. 5101 N East River Rd. At the T-Moblie. A T-Moblie customer is threatening to kill himself and the T-Moblie employees.

9:05pm - Fireworks. 6500 W Devon. Kids in the alley lighting off fireworks.

10:13pm - 1) Disturbance. 4350 N Kedzie. Female in a brown sweater. 2) Beat car 1713Robert just saw a carload of Latin King gangbangers at Argyle and Kedzie. It's a Chevy Conversion van. They're on another job so they can't pursue it right now.

10:20pm - Beat 1700, the Commander, is reporting that she got a call in the station at 7:30 this evening, saying there were about 15 Latin Kings who gathered and congregated on the 4800 block of N Albany.

10:23pm - There's supposed to be a make-swift haunted house at 4806 on Albany.

10:24pm - Beat car 1731R is at the dismissal of the Schurz High School Homecoming Dance, making sure everyone goes home safely.

10:31pm - Suspicious person. Hamlin and Sunnyside. Three males hanging by the corner, acting suspicious.

10:36pm - Burglary in progress. 37XX N Mozart. Someone's breaking into the house.
