Halloween 2013 Coverage

Good morning, everyone, it's 5:10pm. Happy Halloween to those of you who celebrate and endorse it. I personally don't, but I do this coverage to keep an eye on things throughout the city. I hope everyone has a safe night as you go out and celebrate. This year, I began my coverage at 5pm with Zone 4 until 5:05, then I switched over to Zone 2 until now. I didn't hear anything on the two Zones. I will be monitoring the rest of the Zones until 6, then I'm taking a break until 7. At 7, I'll return with Zone 2 until 7:10, and then each Zone will be monitored on a ten minute period through 8:50. From 8:50 to 9:30, I'll be doing coverage on Zone 12, then from 9:30 to 10:10, coverage on Zone 3. From 10:10 to 11:30, I'll be covering Zone 1. This long coverage of Zone 1 is being provided because there's a major dance event going on this evening at Wilbur Wright College from 6 to 11, so I want to keep an eye on that. Of course, any coverage is subject to change, depending on what happens across the city. If anyone has a scanner out there and wants to assist me in monitoring, please feel free to. With that, here's crime for this late afternoon and evening.

5:12pm - Beat 2406Charlie has an on-view disturbance at the Howard CTA station. It's on a bus, problem with a customer refusing to get off.

5:25pm - Disturbance. Wellington and Laramie. Some egg throwing is going on, one person’s holding a kid for the offense.

5:34pm - 1) Disturbance. 3011 W Cermak. Someone took items from the restaurant. 2) Traffic accident. 31XX S Sacramento.

5:35pm - Beat 41Mary53 has a group of kids about to fight at Avers and Roosevelt. Needs a unit or two to come by and assist. Beat 1053 is right around the corner.

5:36pm - 1) Traffic accident. 31st and Western. 2) Loud music disturbance. 37XX S Wood.

5:41pm - Disturbance. 64XX S Hoyne. Kids shooting off paintball guns.

5:43pm - Disturbance. Honore and 62nd. Paintball shooters.

5:45pm - Burglary report. 39XX W 57th.

5:47pm - 1) Disturbance. 67th and Michigan. Three teens throwing eggs at people. 2) Landlord/tenant dispute. 69XX S Wabash. Problem with the landlord.

5:51pm - Disturbance. 8200 S Racine. Kids throwing eggs at a store, they broke the windows already.

5:54pm - Beat 683 has kids shooting off paintball guns at 83XX S Sangamon. Another car needed.

7:06pm - Shots Fired/gang disturbance. 45XX N Malden. One call reports that a male Black with a red shirt and black pants is shooting off a gun, a couple of other calls are reporting a group on the block throwing up signs and shooting off paintball guns.

7:24pm - 1) Disturbance. 45XX N Spaulding. Male urinating in the alley. 2) Assault in progress. 63XX W Touhy. Caller was involved in an accident with a man, something about someone coming to a door with a bat and threatening the caller.

7:28pm - 1) Power outage. 4000 block of W Berteau. 2) Loud music disturbance. 36XX N Tripp. 3) Disturbance. 5800 W Touhy. 4) Disturbance. 43XX N Mulligan.

7:32pm - Disturbance. Damen and Madison. People loitering.

7:45pm - Support unit request. 52XX W Montana.

7:47pm - 1) Disturbance. 57XX W Erie. Caller’s arguing with someone. 2) Criminal damage. Roosevelt and Austin. Group of kids bombed a CTA bus with eggs.

7:51pm - 1) Disturbance. 3524 W Chicago. Group of people throwing bricks at the caller. 2) Battery in progress. Damen and 23rd. People fighting on the street.

7:52pm - 1) Disturbance. 2900 W Adams. Egg throwers. 2) Beat 1062Charlie is dispersing two for gang loitering at 28XX S Drake. Console time is 19:52 and the event number is 15137.

7:57pm - Disturbance. Cermak and Pulaski.

8:06pm - Person w/ a knife. Western and Archer. Female near the KFC has a knife.

8:07pm - Battery in progress. 12XX W 31st. Group fighting in the alley. Multiple calls.

8:10pm - Gang disturbance. 83rd and Lawndale.

8:17pm - Beat 700, 7th District Commander, is advising that there's a lot of paintball gun shooting around the area of Hoyne and 64th.

8:18pm - 1) Disturbance. 45XX S Springfield. 2) Disturbance. 64XX S Hoyne. Paintball gun shooters. 3) Disturbance. 74th and Peoria. Paintball gun shooters.

8:25pm - Battery in progress. Cottage Grove and 63rd. Group of males fighting.

8:27pm - Shots Fired. 1900 E 72nd. Gunshots heard on the street.

8:28pm - Traffic accident. 69XX S Crandon.

8:30pm - 1) A slow down is being given on the 8:27pm job per Beat car 333. They say there's a lot of people out there but that no shots were fired. 2) Person w/ a gun. 77th and Halsted. Man near the bus stop has a gun.

8:31pm - 1) Disturbance. Yates and 84th. Egg throwers. 2) Commercial alarm. 112 W 87th.

8:32pm - Disturbance. 76th and Cottage Grove. Egg throwers.

8:33pm - Shots Fired. Muskegon and 80th. Four gunshots heard.

8:34pm - Disturbance. 83rd and Manistee. Kids throwing eggs at the CTA buses.

8:36pm - Beat car 631 has a traffic stop at 344 E 87th.

8:37pm - 1) Shots Fired. Cottage Grove and 75th. Gunshots fired near the currency exchange. 2) Shots Fired. 74th and Merill.

8:44pm  - Disturbance. 99XX S Wallace. Egg throwers in the alley.

8:45pm - Disturbance. On 531's Beat.

8:54pm - Disturbance. Lavergne and Ferdinand. Paintball gun shooters.

8:55pm - 1) Disturbance. Augusta and Waller. Group throwing eggs and shooting off paintball guns. 2) Shots Fired. Linder and Drummond.

8:58pm - A slow down is being given at Linder/Drummond.

9:01pm - Shots Fired. Wrightwood and Monitor. Five gunshots heard.

9:02pm - A slow down is being given on the 9:01pm job. Beat car 2533 is on scene and says that a citizen told them that a male Hispanic with a red face mask and a black hoodie was the shooter.

9:03pm - Alarm. 4127 W Hirsch. At the Noble school.

9:28pm - Disturbance. LeClaire and West End. Egg throwers.

9:30pm - 1) Shots Fired. 1300 block of W Erie. Multiple calls. 2) Shots Fired. 7XX N Throop.

9:32pm - Shots Fired. 7XX N Willard Ct.

9:33pm - Shots Fired. 13XX W Huron.

10:09pm - Disturbance. 2245 W Jackson. At the Crane High School. Group of kids walking around out front with bats and sticks, they've already broke out a car window. Potentially a gun involved as well.

10:12pm - Disturbance. 4100 N McVicker. Teens walking up and down the block, shooting off paintball guns.

10:20pm - Burglar alarm. 38XX N Springfield.

10:23pm - 1) Disturbance. 37XX N Lockwood. Someone threw something at the caller's window. 2) Disturbance. Devon and Newcastle. Large group of kids shooting off paintball guns and throwing things near St. Thelca's.
