Shooting On Race In The Austin Neighborhood

A shooting was recorded in the Austin neighborhood this afternoon around 3:05pm.

Chicago Police responded to the 5300 block of West Race to find a male in his late teens shot in the lower left leg. The teen was 17 years of age.

The teenager told police he was standing on the northwest corner of Race and Lockwood when a shooter, or shooters, came out of the north alley of Race, east of Lockwood, and fired shots at the victim.

The victim told police the offender or offenders were possibly driving a 4-door light blue 1988 Oldsmoblie.

Three shell casings were found at 551 North Lockwood following the shooting by police. A second crime scene was located at 5328 West Race, involving blood on a porch, along with a bloody shirt.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.

A police report has been done for this crime. The RD number is HT441350 with the event number of 10778. A UCR code of a "041A" was used. Chicago Police are investigating this shooting.
