Large Fight At Van Buren/Central, Landlord Dispute On North Ave.

Good morning, everyone, it's 11am. It's a beautiful sunny early June morning with temps in the lower 70s. Today will get around 80 with sunshine. I'm monitoring Zone 12 for most of the day, but will monitor some other Zones around 6:30pm or 7pm. With that, here's crime.

11:05am - Battery in progress. Van Buren and Central. Large group fighting with bats and sticks. Girls are also fighting.

11:44am - Landlord/tenant dispute. 42XX W North Ave.

12:42pm - Assault. 49XX W Ohio. Male from the neighborhood just came into the caller's apartment and the caller doesn't really know him like that. They would like for him to leave, and he's not.

12:54pm - Alarm. 50XX W Ohio.

1:12pm - Disturbance w/ a mental. 5700 W Race. High risk naked man in the middle of the street.

1:14pm - Disturbance. 29XX N Monitor. Problem with the neighbor.

1:19pm - Vicious animal. Monticello and Potomac. Two pit bulls running around the area.

1:46pm - Disturbance. Huron and Waller. Group of kids sitting on a construction horse, using it as a bench.

1:50pm - 1) Narcotics. On 1522's Beat. 2) Battery in progress. 6XX N Leamington. Group of people beating up the homeowner.

1:51pm - The 6XX Leamington call is an on-going problem that's been occurring all day.

1:56pm - Criminal damage. Pine and Kamerling. Three male Blacks, one in a red shirt, one in a blue shirt and one in a striped shirt, are tearing down the caller's fence.

2:03pm - Parker. On 2512's Beat.

2:09pm - Burglary in progress. 3XX N Mayfield. Male is breaking into a home at this location.

2:21pm - Disturbance. 54XX W LeMoyne. People smoking and loitering.

3:06pm - Beat 1562Charlie has a street stop at Chicago and Laramie.

3:13pm - Municipal ordinance violation. On 2511's Beat.

3:15pm - Check the well being. 14XX N Harding.

3:30pm - Disturbance. Laramie and the Eisenhower Expressway. Kids throwing fireworks off the bridge onto the Expressway.

3:35pm - 1) Disturbance. Grand and Normandy. Male passed out at the bus stop. 2) Traffic accident. 23XX N Melvina. 3) Fireworks. 1800 block of N Luna. 4) Narcotics. On 1511's Beat.

3:45pm - Beat car 2515 has a traffic stop at 53XX W Deming.

3:46pm - Beat car 2531 needs a Tac unit to meet them at 4147 W North Ave.

3:47pm - Beat car 1531 has a handwaver at 5215 W Chicago regarding a criminal damage report. An RD number is being pulled, and it's HV316827 with the event number of 14013.

3:55pm - Assault. Central and Diversey. Van crashed into a black car and now gang members are chasing each other with metal bars.

3:57pm - Reckless driver. 2800 N Central. Blue van and black SUV are speeding north on Central towards George.

3:59pm - Assault in progress. 28XX N Luna. Gangbangers in a black minivan are chasing someone on foot. There's a description of a male Hispanic with a black/white cap, black shirt and khaki shorts.

4:00pm - Beat 2510 is at the 3:55/3:57pm jobs and is saying that the black minivan from 28XX on Luna has a plate of K720736 and it was last seen heading south. Someone on a bike was hit and allegedly there were shots fired.

4:10pm - Shots Fired. 26XX N Rutherford. Six fired on the block.

4:11pm - Person calling for help. 26XX N Rutherford.

4:13pm - Information for the CPD. 26XX N Rutherford. A gray Cadillac was doing the shooting and they were possibly shooting at a house that has a gray Dodge Durango parked in the driveway.

4:14pm - A slow down is being given on the 2600 block of N Rutherford.

4:15pm - Wanted from the incident on the 2600 block of N Rutherford is a male Hispanic named Ernesto Velez, 5'7, 150 lbs, with a birth date of 16-August-58 and he's the uncle of a girl who lives on the block. He was driving a 2012 gray Cadillac CTS. The incident occurred about five minutes ago.

4:21pm - Burglar alarm. 54XX W Diversey.

4:32pm - Disturbance. 5201 W Jackson. At the gas station. Group of males panhandling and smoking marijuana.

4:35pm - Traffic accident. 5835 W Fullerton.

4:42pm - 1) Disturbance. 5838 W Fullerton. Drinkers. 2) Criminal trespass. 22XX N Central. Squatters.

4:49pm - 1) Disturbance. North and Pulaski. CTA bus and a car are involved in some sort of incident, possibly road rage. 2) Beat car 2524 has a traffic stop at 5131 W Fullerton.

4:57pm - Gang disturbance. Central and Crystal. Group out there throwing bottles.

5:04pm - Narcotics. Iowa and Lamon. Ten males selling heroin and shooting off fireworks at each other.

5:06pm - Person down. 30XX N Linder.

5:09pm - Battery. Lavergne and Ferdinand. Man hit the caller.

5:10pm - Person w/ a gun. 41XX W Potomac. Male Black, black hat, white shirt and black jogging pants has a gun. He's on the porch.

5:11pm - Dispatch is putting in a RAP (Radio Assignments Pending) in 25 at 17:11 hours.

5:17pm - 1) Disturbance. 5921 W Division. At the Sunset Liquors. Seven males loitering. 2) Disturbance. Thomas and Mason. Group of males loitering.

5:19pm - Battery in progress. Lavergne and Ferdinand. Some sort of fight is going on.

5:21pm - Beat 1504Adam is on a detail at the Spencer school, 214 N Lavergne.

5:25pm - Theft. 5133 W North Ave. At the McDonalds. Male Black, dreads, white shirt and black pants just stole someone's bike.

5:27pm - Battery in progress. Augusta and Lamon. 30 people fighting with bats and sticks.

5:29pm - Disturbance. Mason and Division. Group of males loitering and causing problems.

5:30pm - 1) Telephone threat. 68XX W Diversey. Caller is getting threatening texts and phone calls. 2) Traffic accident. Dickens and Austin.

7:13pm - Disturbance. Halsted and 31st. Four males loitering by the JJ Peppers.

7:14pm - Narcotics. Chase and Damen. Selling.

7:17pm - Permit parking and a loud music disturbance on the 2600 block of W Walton.

7:22pm - Beat 1061Eddie is saying that there's a large group of gangbangers on the 2400 block of S. Sacramento, but they're dispersing. There was a "battery in progress" call at this location.

7:23pm - Person Shot. Keeler and 31st. About 20 males are surrounding a car where a man is slumped over the wheel, and he's been shot a couple times.

7:24pm - Multiple calls of people slumped wheels are coming in on the 4000 and 4100 blocks of W 31st St. Also have 31st and Pulaski. Person Shot calls are also still coming in.

7:25pm - Apparently, there is a bona fide shooting on 31st. One man's been shot in the chest. Officers are discussing what's going on with all the "person down" calls they're getting. Dispatch fears that multiple people have been shot, so she has sent messages to all the other Zones to let their officers know to hold anyone at the hospitals in case someone comes in.

7:26pm - Person Shot. 19XX S Harding. Male shot three times in a vacant lot.

7:27pm through 7:28pm - Still a lot of talk about the shooting on 31st.

7:29pm - A slow down is being given on the 7:26pm job. Citizens are saying that they haven't heard gunshots or seen anyone get shot, and officers don't see any injured civilians either.

7:30pm - Gang disturbance. Drake and 27th.

7:42pm - Battery in progress. 4800 block of W Ferdinand. Large fight on the street.

7:44pm - Multiple calls on the 7:42pm job. Girls fighting, people breaking out windows, etc. Also have calls at Ferdinand and Lamon. Dispatch thinks it's tied in to the whole thing that's been going on on the 600 block of N Leamington and at Lavergne/Ferdinand.

7:46pm - Still getting calls on Ferdinand.

7:47pm - Burglar alarm. 4955 W Madison. At the fish shop.

7:51pm - 1) Gang disturbance. New England and Altgeld. 2) Gang disturbance. Fullerton and Cicero. 3) Parker. On 2521's Beat. 4) Disturbance. On 2521's Beat.

8:12pm - Battery in progress. Kilbourn and Altgeld. Anywhere between seven to 40 people are fighting with baseball bats and sticks.

8:18pm - Information for the CPD. 4700 block of W Altgeld. There's been large fights breaking out on Altgeld between Kilbourn and Keeler, and now the crowd's at this location, but they're dispersing for now. However, a call overheard them saying that they will be coming back. There's been over a dozen calls in the area for this fight. Just letting everyone know. Some of the crowd was heading west towards Cicero.

8:22pm - Beat 2561Charlie has a street stop at 5540 W North Ave.

8:24pm - 1) Disturbance. 22XX N LeClaire. 2) Disturbance. 51XX W George.

8:56pm - Battery in progress. Barry and New England. Couple of calls for a gang fight.

9:00pm - Disturbance. 1700 block of N Keeler. Loiters.

9:15pm - Battery in progress. LeClaire and Concord. Street fight with five girls involved. There was mention of a gun.

9:16pm - Shots Fired. 30XX N Odell.

9:30pm - 1) Disturbance. 5133 W North Ave. Male selling DVDs in front. 2) Robbery. North and Lawler.

9:31pm - 1) Disturbance. 25XX N Linder. Loiters and noise-makers. 2) Disturbance. 22XX N Mango. 3) Burglar alarm. 24XX N Mango. 4) Criminal damage. 5412 W Fullerton. Taggers.

9:32pm - 1) Loud music disturbance. 27XX N Major. 2) Disturbance. 1601 N Harlem. At the Sears. Aggressive panhandler in front.

9:33pm - 1) Narcotics. 29XX N McVicker. 2) Traffic accident. 29XX N New England. Hit-and-run.

9:35pm - Reckless driver. Wellington and Cicero.

9:39pm - 1) Sex offense. XX S Lavergne. Some sexual activity going on on the porch. 2) Disturbance. 1100 block of S Mayfield. Loiters.

10:05pm - 1) Shots Fired. Central and Hirsch. 2) Person w/ a gun. LeMoyne and Monticello. 2) Shots Fired. Central Park and North Ave. Two males in shorts shooting off guns. They're apparently on the west side of the block and keep ducking when cars go by. They're also throwing bottles.

10:10pm - Shots Fired. Concord and LeClaire.
