Large Fight On Maypole This Evening

A large fight broke out earlier this evening on the 3300 block of West Maypole at around 8:50pm in Chicago's Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

11th District officers responded to a couple of calls of a "battery in progress" on the block with a large group of people fighting on the block just before 8:50pm. When Beat 1120, a supervisor, arrived on scene, there was a large group still fighting, with lots of screaming and yelling heard in her background. At that point, she called for an assist unit, but it was no emergency.

When 1120's assist unit arrived on scene, they called for a few more cars. The crowd was starting to get out of control.

A slow down was given at 8:55pm per Beat 1162Charlie. There is no word on any arrests, and Chicago Police are investigating.
