Shots Fired Last Night @ Lorel/Bloomingdale, Shooting On Ohio

Two incidents of violence unfolded on Chicago's West Side last night, with probably many, many more unreported incidents, due to the unseasonal warm weather. Both incidents occurred in the Austin neighborhood.

At 7:52pm, a 25th District officer reported hearing "several loud reports" just south of the 25th District Police Station, which is located at 5555 West Grand Ave. South of the station is a big parking lot with a theater and residential area, which all falls on Beat 2532. Moments later, at 7:54, Dispatch received one call of "Shots Fired" at Lorel and Bloomingdale, with about five heard. This intersection is only a couple blocks southeast of the station. By 8:00pm, 25th District officers were on scene and talking to witnesses. A black 4-door, newer model vehicle was involved. Police are investigating this incident, and there is no further information at this time.

Then, at 11:25pm, a shooting occurred on the 5800 block of West Ohio St. At the time, Dispatch only had one call of "Shots Fired" at Ohio and Menard, and then a few minutes later, Oak Park Police came over the air and told Dispatch that there was a victim at West Suburban Hospital from the "Shots Fired" call. One unit went to the hospital and spoke with the victim, while others worked a crime scene, that was found at 5805 W Ohio. hell casings were found, and so was a loaded gun.

In other news, quite a few gang disturbances were reported last night, including one at Wellington and Meade, around 11:22pm, with a group of them flashing gang signs and walking towards Lyons Elementary school on Austin.

Be sure to keep reading this blog for any possible updates on the incidents mentioned above, as well as any more violence that unfolds today with more unseasonable warm weather.
